Enjoy the Best of Outdoor Living in a Shea Home

by Shea Homes Arizona on January 19, 2018

It’s January in Arizona! While much of the country is buried under snow, we’re gearing up for some fun in the sun. When you live in a state that has some of the best weather in the country (most of the year, anyway), it makes perfect sense to choose a home designed to take full advantage of outdoor living. Here are a few of the latest popular new home features that let homeowners enjoy Arizona living to the fullest.

Courtyards
CourtyardsCourtyards add expanded living space, give your family more room to spread out, and provide multiple entertaining spaces for kids and adults. With the right furniture, a fireplace and maybe a stocked bar, you’ll find plenty of reasons to enjoy the great outdoors year-round.

Casitas, Ramadas and Cabanas
RamadasIf you like to entertain, casitas, ramadas and cabanas are great ways to transform your backyard into the ideal party spot. Throw in a flat-screen TV or two, and you can alternate between watching the big game and cooling off with a dip in the pool.

Putting Greens
Putting GreensWhy should you have to drive to a golf course or Top Golf to improve your game? With a backyard putting green, you can work on your stroke any time the urge strikes. If you have tweens or teens, this is a great way to get the kids off their phones and into some outdoor activity time.

2018 New Year’s Resolutions for Your Home

by Shea Homes Arizona on January 5, 2018

Happy New Year - Resolutions for your home in 2018Life gets busy, complicated and hectic. In this New Year let’s all make a resolution to slow down and make our lives simpler. Let’s create a little change in our homes without spending a lot of time and money. Shea Homes® put together a few ideas to help you simplify and perhaps create something new and different for your home (and for you) in 2018.

Rearrange Your Living Room

Has your furniture been placed in the same way for years? Moving your furniture around could make your living room or any room in your house feel like a brand new space in your home.

Use the “Fancy’ Dishes

Let’s get crazy this 2018! We all have that dishware we store in a box or somewhere up high all year long for special occasions, only touching the table a few times a year. Why not use that “special” dishware that makes you so happy? Do it for you!

Make your Bed

There are actual studies proving that making your bed every morning can make you happier. Establishing a routine every morning by waking up and making your bed will make the overall room look more put together, and will also have you starting your day off by being productive, and efficient!

Start a Donation Box

After the holidays we always find ourselves with more than we had before. Instead of wasting a day cleaning out each room, make it a quick hour clean up with everyone designated to a room. If you forgot you had it, donate it! After you do one New Year sweep of the house, keep the tradition of donating alive by having a donate box that everyone at home can utilize all year long.

Separate with Baskets

No one enjoys separating out their own dirty clothes from lights, darks, and hand wash — much less their entire family’s laundry. Let’s skip a step this year by having a separate basket for each load of wash, or buying a sorting hamper with multiple compartments. Make each person responsible for separating their own clothes and make laundry a quick 1, 2, 3!
