Exterior Design

You’ve heard us say before that at Shea Homes, we believe every part of the home matters. That’s why we don’t compromise on quality, and new Shea homes in Arizona come standard with name brand products like Wayne-Dalton Garage Doors.

So what are the benefits for the buyer? Check out these great features of the Wayne-Dalton 5120 model, one of our favorites:

Increased safety in your home:

  • Pinch-resistant door panels are designed so closing sections actually push fingers safely out of harm’s way.
  • The Wayne-Dalton TorqueMaster® Plus is the first counterbalance system to seal springs safely within a steel tube. It contains an anti-drop feature that eliminates the risk of door “free fall” and prevents potential serious injury.
  • The polyurethane foam that insulates the panels is CFC-11-free, so it’s environmentally friendly.

Energy Efficiency:

  • The foamed-in-place R-9.0 polyurethane insulation improves the energy efficiency of a home and blocks unwanted street noise from entering living areas that adjoin the garage. The Tough-Guard vinyl backer also adds beauty and durability to the interior of the garage door.

Durability:

  • The foamed-in-place polyurethane insulation is chemically bonded to each steel section, creating a structure with higher strength and dent resistance.
  • Heavy-gauge steel wraparound end caps trim-out door edges for better appearance, improved strength, and protection of the insulation from damage.

Clean and clutter free look:

  • Embossed, high tensile steel panels give the look of wood with the strength of steel.
  • Sound-absorbing insulation makes the door operate quieter, reducing wind noise, and is energy efficient.
  • Shea Homes also offers two advanced Wayne-Dalton garage door openers. The ceiling mounted prodrive® opener is available in either a belt or chain rail. The patented wall-mounted idrivePRO® eliminates the belt, chain, screw drive, and track that clutter a garage door ceiling. Pair it with our pinch resistant door and TorqueMaster spring systems to eliminate the need for installing photo eyes. And, if you select the exclusive Z-Wave® technology option, the openers work wirelessly with our complete range of Home Controls products.
  • Door panels are also guaranteed through Wayne-Dalton against cracking or splitting due to rust-through for up to 10 years.

With cooler weather with us for another month or two, it’s time to get out and enjoy it!  There’s nothing quite so relaxing as beautiful, intimate outdoor garden spaces in which to rest, have a morning cup of coffee, dine or entertain.  Creating these garden rooms is a rewarding activity that combines a bit of design fun with healthy exercise, resulting in a “well-furnished garden” to delight your family and friends.

In Arizona, March and April are perfect times to start planting again. The trend today is to combine the horticultural, plant focused aspects of gardening with the addition of architecture and ornamentation.  Thinking of the garden in this broader sense, we consider the impact of garden enclosures, trellises and pergolas, changes of grade, decorative features such as sculpture and planters, water features and lighting.

When you think of your home landscape as a natural extension of your indoor living space, exciting possibilities emerge.

Getting started is easy.  Grab paper and pencil and your digital camera and take a tour of your own backyard. First give some serious thought to how you use your outdoor space now, and what delightful [read more…]

On Saturday, Feb. 18 from noon to 3 p.m., Shea Homes San Diego will host two food trucks, craft beer tasting and live entertainment during the opening celebration of new loft-style townhomes at Origen at Civita in Mission Valley.

While touring nine new model homes, the first 500 guests who fill out a registration card are invited to enjoy complimentary lunch from two of San Diego’s most popular food trucks – Miho Gastrotruck and Food Farm — as well as craft beer tasting from Karl Strauss Brewing Company and Green Flash Brewing Company. The free public event will also feature live music on the fourth floor of a skyLoft model home.

“During our soft opening over the holidays, we sold 10 new homes to mix of young professionals, move-downs and second home buyers,” said Vanessa Linn, vice president of sales and marketing for Shea Homes San Diego. “This event on Feb. 18 is intended to formally introduce these smart urban townhomes to the San Diego marketplace.”

Located at 7894 Civita Blvd. just east of SR-163 in Mission Valley, Origen at Civita offers two new neighborhoods of three- and four-story townhomes — Origen socialGarden and Origen skyLoft.

Designed by Woodley Architectural Group, both communities showcase contemporary urban architecture with multi-story window walls, expansive outdoor decks, open rail systems, open tread stairs, wrought iron railings, interior sliding glass doors, stone and brick surfaces, and angled doors, walls and floors.  Interiors feature kitchen islands, master and powder baths with vessel sinks, tankless water heaters and stainless steel appliances. Each of the 10 floor plans includes a two-car garage.

Convenient in-home technology innovations include a 2gig wireless system to control security, lighting and heating from any Smartphone or tablet.

Located near the corner of Friars Road and Mission Center Road in the heart of Mission Valley, Origen is the first new community to open at Civita, a 230-acre master planned community being developed as sustainable, transit-oriented village by Sudberry Properties.

The sales office and nine new model homes are open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., except Mondays, when hours are 1 p.m. to 5 pm. For more information, call 866-OWN-SHEA (866-696-7432) or visit www.SheaHomes.com/SanDiego.
