Shea Homes of Charlotte is excited to announce our receipt of a Silver Award for Best Interior Merchandising in the 2016 National Sales and Marketing Awards! The National Association of Home Builder’s Sales and Marketing Council awards the builders they feel are the best in the industry. Builders are chosen based on their determination, integrity, creativity, and endurance. Receiving one of these coveted awards for our Grayson Model in Atherton is truly a great honor.
Our Grayson model incorporates many unique and trending features. Some of these features are subtle, like the tiled stair risers, and some are more bold, like the incredible owner’s suite spa bathroom. The Grayson doesn’t waste any time in setting itself apart, upon entry you’ll notice a barn door, foyer flooring that will take your breath away, and a glimpse of the waterfall granite that is the star of the kitchen. Throughout the home we’ve included many of the trending gray color schemes in the tile, accessories, and even in the family room’s built ins. We encourage you to take the virtual tour below and see for yourself!
“The Nationals are the most prestigious awards of their kind, setting the benchmark for innovations in new home design, marketing and sales,” said Christy Beck, chairperson of the Nationals. “NAHB’s commitment to recognizing originality, imagination and success has been exemplified by its award winners since the competition’s inception.”
About the awards: Started in 1982 as the Institute of Residential Marketing, The Nationals award program continues to recognize superior new home sales and marketing achievements. With 57 categories across various disciplines of the new home industry, the awards honor excellence in product and community design, advertising, marketing and sales achievements by individuals and sales teams.
During a three-day judging process, a panel of 7 industry professionals from across the country determined the Silver and Gold award winners from a field of over 1,300 entries.

Creating memories is what life is all about. Memories remind us of the important people and places we hold dear to our hearts, filling our lives with happiness and joy. We anxiously await the coming of the “next big thing” in our lives: our first job, marriage, the birth of a first child, or that epic vacation we’ve been dreaming about taking for years. Yet, when the occasion finally arrives, the whirlwind of emotions, conversations, and excitement can make it seem like it passes by in a second. When we revisit these moments the following day or week later, we can’t even remember what hit us!
Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory. – Dr. Seuss
One way to keep the memory of these momentous occasions top of mind is to forgo boxing away high-school diplomas, baby photos, travel souvenirs, and other keepsakes to collect dust in the attic and instead, put them in places of honor in your home! From shadow boxes to displays of sand from the exotic beaches you’ve visited, we’re sharing 5 DIY home décor ideas.
Now that school is back in session, it’s time to hit the books! So, we’ve compiled a list of some of our favorite kids study spaces in our homes that can help parents, and kids!
1. Drop Zone
With drop zones backpacks, shoes, and coats all have a place, and you can customize them however you like. The best part? If all goes as planned, clutter and mess won’t even make it past the entryway of your home. No more lost backpacks…or at least less lost backpacks.
2. Teen Loft
A mini study for your kids. Stock the drawers with hanging files, healthy snacks, arts & crafts supplies, and anything else they need to get the job done in one place. You might even get to reclaim your kitchen counter.
3. Bonus Room Built Ins
Bonus rooms can be for work and play. This gives your kids the best of both worlds, a nook for them to get work done in their favorite room, and any mess with be quarantined in here. We give this idea an A+.
4. Bedroom Study Cove
A kid’s bedroom should be their getaway, so giving them a quiet place to read or study right off of their room, like this study cove, is a great way to entice them to do their schoolwork. Make it super comfy with bean bags and fun wall décor and you might even get extra credit.
5. Rec Room Retreat
Adding desks to the cabinet layout in your Rec Room can give this room some added value. Your kids won’t mind heading to this more secluded place with everything they need to tackle homework.
