Did you know that today is a very special day? And not just for you and your special someone, but for the whole state of Arizona

Today marks the 100th anniversary of statehood for Arizona. So, in honor of Valentines’ Day and Arizona’s Centennial, we thought we would celebrate by sharing 25 things we love about Arizona! Feel free to add your own in the comments below. 

25. Plenty of space to grow in.

24. Having some of the best designer shops outside of New York City.

23. Going two hours up north to escape the heat in the summer and get on the slopes during the winter.

22. Being able to hike and ride bikes all year round.

21. Playing at a different golf course each weekend and cheering on golfers from the 16th Hole at the Waste Management Phoenix Open.

20. Driving with the windows open.

19. That nearly all major concert tours stop in Phoenix.

18. The scent of citrus blooms in the spring.

17. Picking out fresh produce from any one of the many Saturday morning farmers’ markets.

16. Being within five-six hours of the beach and Las Vegas.

15. And did we mention all the lakes for great water skiing?

14. Walking through the Desert Botanical Garden, lit with luminaries during the Christmas season.

13. Cheering on NASCAR drivers twice a year at the Phoenix International Raceway.

12. Sweet treats from historical shops like the Sugar Bowl in Old Town Scottsdale or the Cerreta Candy Company in Glendale.

11. Watching the lightning during monsoon season.

10. Getting to experience 15 Major League Baseball teams play each other during Cactus League Spring Training.

9. Having a variety of Broadway shows, ballets, plays and shows like Cirque du Soleil throughout the year.

8. Catching the sunrise atop Camelback Mountain, the Superstitions or any one of many great trails and hilltops.

7. The smell of the desert after the rain.

6. Rooting for professional Arizona teams in basketball, baseball, football and hockey.

5. Seeing the stars at night.

4. The first time you look across the Grand Canyon in person and the way it takes your breath away.
