Shea Design Studio: Getting Started

by Shea Homes Arizona on March 30, 2011

In the video posted on Facebook earlier this week, Melissa, from our Design Studio, talked about getting started designing your home.  Her most important piece of advice to homebuyers was to choose the look of their major purchases first.

While some people may be really excited to pick out their fixtures and accents, the best place to start is with  flooring, cabinetry, and counter tops.  These are some of the largest financial selection you’ll make in the design studio and selecting  these items first can help establish your palette of colors and textures for the rest of your home.

These photos will give you another taste of some of the choices available in the the Shea Homes Design Studio.

For counter tops, there are choices ranging from Granite and Engineered Stone to Ceramic Tile and more. What’s more, each counter top type comes in a variety of colors to fit your style.

Flooring is one of the biggest decisions. Choose from traditional tile, recycled bamboo, carpeting and more. Stay tuned for our future Design Studio blogs and videos for information about tiled medallions for entry ways and back splashes for the kitchen!

Cabinetry can be a great way to tie in a color from your counter tops or even furniture.  Choose from a variety of woods and stains.

Over the next few months, the Design Studio will continue to offer tips and information about designing the home that is right for you and is a big part of the journey.  In the mean time, we’d love to hear from you.  What are some of the things you dream about picking out or things you loved choosing when you designed your home?
