The Benefits of New – Why buying new is best

by Shea Homes Arizona on January 4, 2012

We came up with a few serious and a few quirky reasons that cause a lot of people to think twice before purchasing a foreclosed or short-sale home. Read through the list and comment on our Facebook to let us know if you have any to add to the list.

  • No one has used your shower or your toilet except you.
  • There is no need to rip out zebra striped wall paper or orange shag carpeting—your Shea Home is designed for you and your family.
  • You don’t need to worry about hidden damage like mold or termite infestations.
  • No one else has let their dog pee on your carpet.
  • You won’t have to be careful of “that one floor board” that comes up a little when you walk on it—Shea Homes are built with integrity.
  • There is no need to repair that pesky water spot on the ceiling caused by a leaky air conditioner.
  • No one has stolen your doorknobs or ceiling fans.
  • You won’t have to repair the big hole in the wall from that house party the previous owners threw.
  • There won’t be any worries about bug problems caused by the previous owners who apparently had no concept of basic cleanliness.
  • No one has thought your kitchen floor was the perfect location for a small bonfire.
  • You won’t have to pull out the tree stump in the back yard or the collection of one thousand cactuses in the front.  Shea Homes give you a clean slate to design your own landscaping.
  • You won’t have to pick up someone else’s trash or left behind belongings.
  • Your house adapts to you, and you won’t need to adapt to the house.
  • The history of your Shea Home begins with you.

Many of these sound silly, but especially considering that many foreclosures have several problems like these, it can become quite the expense and hassle buying a “fixer-upper.” Stay tuned this month to learn about four major risks to be aware of before taking the leap into purchasing a foreclosed or short-sale home.
