And what exactly is an ENERGY STAR home?
ENERGY STAR is joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy. The program’s mission is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and other pollutants. They also work to make it easy for consumers to identify and purchase energy-efficient products that offer savings on monthly energy bills—all of this without sacrificing the performance and desired features of the appliances or the comfort of the consumer.
Here are the qualities that make Shea Homes ENERGY STAR approved:
Effective Insulation Systems
- High–Performance Windows and Doors
- Tight Construction and Ducts
- Efficient Heating and Cooling Equipment
- ENERGY STAR Qualified Lighting and Appliances
The final step in ENERGY STAR certification is a third party inspection by a certified Home Energy Rater. Each home design is tested structurally to make sure it meets all of the requirements necessary to ensure that the homeowner is in fact getting a qualified and efficient home.
* ENERGY STAR certified homes are reported quarterly to EPA by each Rater’s Provider.
