Charlotte is the #1 Fastest Growing U.S. City

As reported by CNNMoney.com, according to the Census Bureau, Charlotte is the number one fastest growing city in the country, reporting a 64.6% growth in the last decade. Besides being a transportation hub and the second largest financial center in the nation, after New York, there are dozens of great reasons people call Charlotte home. Come see for yourself!

No matter what you’re looking for in Charlotte, a house near a lake, a maintenance-free condo, a home with a large homesite to give your family space, Shea Homes just may have a neighborhood which is exactly what you want. Check us out today at sheahomes.com/charlotte. We have over 9 decorated models open 7 days a week, and invite you to come take a tour.

The Weather! Mild winters, warm summers, year-round golf…it’s like Florida, only manageable in the summer! Perhaps that’s why we are seeing “half-backs” – people who retire to Florida, and then move halfway back up the coast to the Carolinas.

The Location! 2 hours to the mountains, 3 hours to the beaches…it’s the best of both worlds if you love both environments. It’s actually possible to snow ski and walk on the beach within the same week!

The People! While Charlotte is a melting pot, it has managed to retain its southern hospitality and slower pace of life than other large cities and areas of the country.

Things To do! From major sports teams like the Carolina Panthers and Charlotte Bobcats, to NASCAR’S Charlotte Motor Speedway, to the Charlotte Knights baseball team and Charlotte Checkers hockey, sports enthusiasts don’t have to travel far for a game. But we also have a terrific arts and culture program, (http://www.charlottecultureguide.com/ )  with opera, dance, multiple theatres, museums, festivals and more; there is something for the entire family year-round.

Outdoor Living! Whether you enjoy sitting outside at a local outdoor shopping center listening to the free live music on the weekends, road biking on the growing number of bicycle-friendly roads in Charlotte, mountain biking, jogging or walking Benji on the greenways, or kayaking in the area lakes and rivers, Charlotte has it, and more. With the addition of the US Whitewater center, you may raft, paddle board, hike, and even zip-line along the Catawba River. More challenging hikes and rafting trips are an easy day-trip away in the mountains.

Shopping! Yes, we said shopping. Because Charlotte has IT ALL. Yes, we have the normal strip-mall chain stores such as Kohl’s and Marshall’s, and the wonderful bargains at the outlet stores at Concord Mills. But we also have…Nordstrum. Kate Spade. Louis Vuitton. Neiman Marcus. Aldo. Burberry. BCBG. Frontgate. Hermes. Tiffany & Co. And dozens more high-end shops at SouthPark mall, not to mention many boutique stores throughout the city.

The Food. Charlotte opens its arms to top chefs who make dining out the only entertainment you need for the evening. Whether you’re eating famous fried pickles at a restaurant featured on Foot Network’s Diners, Drive-ins & Dives, or splurging on 5 star cuisine, the food here is wonderfully tempting. For a real taste of Charlotte, visit our local farmer’s markets and microbreweries. Some restaurants specialize in sourcing locally grown food as well.

So if you aren’t already familiar with Charlotte, come check us out for a long weekend. We think you’ll be glad you did.
