The Arizona Cardinals may not be headed to the Super Bowl, but what a season it was! We like to think that maybe, just maybe, we had a little something to do with it (wink, wink). As a proud partner of the team, we had a blast sharing our enthusiasm for the Arizona Cardinals – in the stadium, at the office, and in all of our Shea Homes Arizona communities.
Let’s start by taking a look at where it all began… the Ultimate Fan Cave.
The basement of a model home in Peoria’s Vista Montaña community was where it all began. When Rich Tomey, business development manager of the Arizona Cardinals, saw the fan cave decked out with everything a Cards fan could desire — from oversized lounge chairs, to framed jerseys, a football field carpet and the best of the Arizona Cardinals replaying on the big screen – he reached out to Shea Homes to explore the possibility of a partnership. As it turns out, Shea Homes and the Arizona Cardinals were a perfect match!
Soon after, the entire Shea team embraced our inner redbirds, and there was a serious outbreak of football fever at Shea headquarters. Pictured here, the Shea architects gearing up for the season.
Before we knew it, the 2015-16 season officially kicked off, and there we were — our name in lights. As a reminder to fans to be loud and proud during home games, every time a visiting team had a false start penalty, fans saw the University of Phoenix stadium LED screens light up with the running total of false starts and the Shea Homes logo, calling attention to the Cardinals’ home field advantage. Everyone knows what a loud stadium the University of Phoenix stadium is known to be. Coincidence? We think not.
Throughout the season, we gave away plenty of Arizona Cardinals tickets, parking passes and logoed merchandise to randomly selected fans who visited Shea Homes communities and filled out their entry form or snapped a selfie with a Larry Fitzgerald head cutout and posted their pic on social media with the hashtag #homefieldadvantage.
And when it came to tailgating, let’s just say that Shea Homes knows how to throw a party. Along with our TradePartners, we hosted two fun-filled tailgate parties with food, drinks, and more than a few games of cornhole..
So what’s next, now that the Cardinals season is over? Plenty! We are looking forward to having Arizona Cardinals players and cheerleaders out to celebrate our newest Shea Homes community, Ambition at Eastmark. And we’ll also be partnering with the Cardinals organization on a Hometown Huddle event, where we’ll be working side by side to rebuild the playground of a very deserving elementary school. Look for updates on our Shea Homes Arizona Facebook page!
