Can’t Miss Design & Décor Trends for 2017

by Shea Homes Arizona on January 20, 2017

It’s a new year which means it is time for new design trends that can be used to refresh your home and make it your own. Without further ado, we give you the top design and décor trends for 2017:

1) Neutral Palate with a Splash of Color

In addition to using neutral colors such as beige, taupe and pure white to create a simple and warm atmosphere in your home, try adding a splash of rich color. Colors that are considered jewel tones, (i.e. dark red, purple, and blue), can create a welcoming feel to any room. (Fun fact: Pantone named greenery the 2017 color of the year.) These hues can be added to any room by using side chairs, throws, flowers, books, vases, picture frames or other accent pieces to make the space your own – feel free to get creative!

2) White and Wood Kitchens

This year’s modern kitchen is not complete without a good ol’ simple and clean look. This can be done by upgrading to white marble or quartz counters and installing all matte appliances. Add to the simplicity by having all white or lightly-colored wood cabinets. Not only will this help the kitchen appear more spacious, but it will also make the kitchen feel fresh and airy – thus creating the perfect spot to prepare a meal with the whole family.

Celebrate Halloween with these Fun Family Events

by Shea Homes Arizona on October 14, 2016

Halloween Pumpkins
Here there be monsters! Halloween is nearly upon us, and with it comes candy, costumes, and fun for the whole family. Here are a few of the top Halloween events taking place around the Valley this month!

  1. Chandler Halloween Spooktacular: Friday, October 28th, Dr. A.J. Chandler Park 5:30pm-8:30pm

This first event promises to be a fantastic activity for the whole family. There will be carnival games, an inflatable corn maze, and a haunted house. For the more creative ghouls and goblins, there will be costume contests in all different age categories, so be sure to look your spookiest! Bring trick-or-treat bags, as there will be candy galore.

  1. Macdonald’s Ranch Annual Pumpkin Festival: October 1st-31st

One of the best long-running fall events in the Valley! Head over to Macdonald’s ranch in Scottsdale, and hop on a hayride to go pick your pumpkins. On the way, get something to eat, visit the petting zoo, find your way through the hay bale maze, and more! There’s no better place for some classic fall fun this side of the Grand Canyon.

  1. Haunted Harbor at Lake UN-pleasant: October 21st, 6:30pm-10:00pm

Back for the third year running, the Haunted Harbor at Lake Pleasant Marina in Peoria features Halloween games like Zombie Cornhole, trick- or-treating, face painting, and food trucks. Stick around for movies on the lake, a bonfire, and general Halloween spirit!

  1. Buckeye Halloween Carnival: October 29th, 6:00pm-9:00pm

This mainstay event in local Halloween festivities has been running since 1940! Come to historic Downtown Buckeye for all sorts of Halloween fun, including the haunted “Maze of Mayhem.” And don’t miss the Jack-o-lantern carving contest and costume cat-walk!

  1. Apache Junction Halloween Festival: October 29th, 5:00pm-8:00pm

Last, but certainly not least, Apache Junction is holding a Halloween Festival to celebrate the good citizens that keep the city safe! There will be food, games, and a petting zoo. The highlight of the event, though, just might be the costume contests. Not just for humans, mind you, but also for your favorite canine companions!
