A Day Trip to Remember: Sedona, AZ

Hello Weekend! This is the third in a series meant for the Phoenician weekender looking for a little day trip adventure.

Known for its striking red rocks and desert scenery, Sedona is one of Arizona’s most unique towns. Sedona attracts visitors from all over the world, and for those lucky to enough to live in the Phoenix area, it’s only a two-hour drive, making it the perfect day trip. Whether you’re looking for art, adventure, or spiritual enhancement, you are sure to find something to enjoy while spending the day in Sedona.

For some fun in the sun before it cools off too much, Slide Rock is definitely a spot you won’t want to miss! Open every day, all day, it is a great place to cool off with family and friends. Slide Rock has been named one of Arizona’s 10 best state parks and attracts numerous people every day of the week. Seven miles north of Sedona, the sandstone has been beat down by the water, forming natural slides to ride down and be carried into pools of water throughout the river. The summer admission fee is $20 per vehicle Monday-Thursday, and $30 on the weekends. So grab your friends, your water shoes, and your sunblock, and get ready for a great day! [read more…]

A Day Trip To Remember: Prescott, AZ

Hello Weekend! This is the second in a series meant for the Phoenician weekender looking for a little day trip adventure.

This day trip is a blast from the past as you walk the streets of the old west and make memories for years to come. Home to the World’s Oldest Rodeo, historic downtown, hiking trails and scenic lakes, Prescott houses the perfect combination of history and nature. Only an hour and 45 minutes north of Phoenix, it’s a great way to beat the heat and experience a different side of Arizona.

Located four miles from Prescott, Watson Lake Park offers activities any visitor is sure to enjoy. Whether it’s just for a day or you choose to stay overnight, there’s something for the whole family to enjoy. Watson Lake offers camping, fishing, kayaking, hiking, boating, recreational activities, canoeing, rock climbing, etc. Summer hours at the lake are from 6 a.m. – 10 p.m. This is a great getaway outside of the city if you’re looking to spend the day in nature.

Downtown Historic Area:

Prescott is home to just over 40,000 people and has some impressive accomplishments for a small city. Honored with a top 10 ranking of public spaces in the U.S., the Prescott Courthouse plaza is just one of the many great venues in the downtown historic area. It is home to three of Arizona’s most valued museums, annual art and music festivals, the famous Whiskey Row, restaurants, and plenty of shopping. This day trip has a small town vibe with big things to offer.
