We Build Community

by Shea Homes Northern California on March 31, 2014

At Shea Homes, we are dedicated to building more than just excellent houses. We strive to build dream homes, as well as a sense of community in every Shea neighborhood. We love seeing the smiling faces of our happy customers and hearing feedback about our communities.

One of the ways Shea shows homeowners how much we care is by hosting community gatherings and events to help residents meet their new neighbors. Our most recent homeowner party was at Landsdowne at Bay Meadows in San Mateo, and it was a spectacular success! Food, drinks, families and fun helped bring this new community together. The evening was filled with laughter and chatter and a sense of excitement about owning homes in the up-and-coming Bay Meadows area. Towards the end of the night, two of our guests were awarded thank you gifts for referring friends to Shea.

Landsdowne at Bay Meadows – Opening Week!

by Shea Homes Northern California on August 28, 2013

Just a little over a week ago we celebrated our brand new Landsdowne community with a VIP Homeowner Party and Model Grand Opening. Both events were full of excitement as guests packed out our newly furnished models, exploring them for the very first time. The energy was contagious as we oo’d and aw’d at the beautiful interiors done by CDC Designs.

Our VIP home owner event featured a delicious spread of finger foods from Whole Foods as our home owners had an opportunity to be the first to tour our models. Laughter and praise could be heard throughout the homes as you made your way through and you couldn’t help but join in on the conversations around the decor, designs and beautiful views from the balconies!

The Model Grand Opening event on Saturday was a smashing success with over 350+ guests attending during the 5 hour event. Families, couples and singles alike toured the models and were blown away by the location, layouts and proximity to the many local amenities Landsdowne offers to its residents. This grand opening was unique in that each model showcased a local treat, demonstration or goody for those who visited. Upon entering the sales office you were offered a complimentary coffee (ordered to your liking) or smoothie. In Plan 1B families could visit the balloon man who performed and made balloon animals for the children. In Plan 1A everyone could get their hands on a decadent cupcake. In Plan 2 guests could meet and talk with Star Apple Edible + Fine Gardening who displayed a container garden perfect for Landsdowne residents to emulate, they also had a chance to try some of Whole Foods gourmet tomatoes. Lastly, in Plan 5, guests were offered the opportunity to watch an artist paint masterpieces with coffee grounds while snacking on gourmet olives and an assortment of cheeses from Whole Foods.

Landsdowne Grand Opening Event

by Shea Homes Northern California on March 18, 2013

This past weekend Bay Meadows opened to the public and the excitement surrounding the opening of our newest community, Landsdowne, was unparalleled. Hundreds of prospective homebuyers attended the four hour grand opening event, visiting the brand new Welcome Center and meeting with community representatives.

Bay Meadows, in San Mateo, was home to the famous Bay Meadows horse racing track. Now the old race track has been developed into an urban oasis with brand new homes and a large community park. The community is conveniently located along the Caltrain line and is within a mile of shopping, restaurants and other amenities. Bay Meadows is just a short distance from the freeway with a five minute drive to the San Mateo Bridge and ten minute drive to the San Francisco Airport.

Landsdowne, Shea Homes’ newest community, is a collection of 2-3 story townhomes in an outstanding peninsula setting. Landsdowne’s floor plans range from 1,237 – 2,353 square feet, and start at $730,000. The interiors are calm, convenient and comfortable with an opulent mix of materials and colors. The landscaped paths, gathering places and private courtyards border on the park’s rich greenery. Landsdowne offers a little something for everyone.

Landsdowne – New Home Community in San Mateo

by Shea Homes Northern California on May 23, 2012

Shea Homes already has an impressive list of new home communities in the Bay Area and we’re excited to announce our newest location in San Mateo, CA.

Construction may begin as early as summer 2012, with model homes and sales launching in 2013. We’ll offer 8 beautiful floor plans with a mix of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes from 1,150-2,200 square feet. This community named Landsdowne will be perfect for individuals and family who seek to live in an environmentally friendly atmosphere while staying close to the city of San Francisco and all the innovative companies in the area.

The SF Registry reports, “Signing Shea Homes exemplifies the positive momentum Bay Meadows is generating, and we are very excited to get construction underway on two residential neighborhoods this summer, with sales starting in late 2012,” said Christopher Meany, partner at WMS. “Shea Homes has long been recognized as one of ‘America’s Best Builders,’ and its progressive approach to anticipating consumer demand is perfectly aligned with Bay Meadows.”

What can you expect to find around Landsdowne?

Well first of all this community is an urban village between San Francisco and San Jose on the Caltrain commuter rail line. Accessibility is key to Landsdowne and Bay Meadows provides easy access freeway entrances and many opportunities for public transportation.

San Mateo also boasts about their shopping options, notably Hillsdale Shopping Center. Find your favorite store whether it is Coach, Nordstrom, Macys, Williams Sonoma, or Foot Locker. Check out the full list of available shopping options here. Nearby grocery shopping includes stores like Trader Joes and Whole Foods, not to mention the list of available restaurants within the area whether you like burgers or sushi, there is an eatery for you.

It’s just a 30 minute drive to Union Square in San Francisco or a 30 minute drive in the other direction to the heart of San Jose. Or, for the world travelers (or frequent business travelers), how about a 15 minute drive to the San Francisco International Airport. And who can forget the Caltrain station right near the community.

Construction is slated to start in early 2013 for a 400 student private school located at the old Bay Meadows race track site.  The school offers small class sizes, project-based learning and special teachers in a number of subjects.

So what’s there not to love about Landsdowne?

Nothing. This community is in an absolutely beautiful location with a view of the Bay Meadows park. Stay tuned for more information about this great new community and always feel free to leave us comments or questions.
