Heroes Rewards

As summer vacation comes to a close, teachers are gearing up for another year of hard work. We want to thank Arizona teachers for their service by reminding them about the Heroes Reward program, which provides them with a 1% base price credit toward the purchase of a new Shea Home. This special offer is also available to active and retired military, active or retired police officers, and active or retired firefighters.

The Heroes Reward Program is just one small way we at Shea Homes® Arizona are able to recognize and thank our military, teachers, police officers and firefighters for all that they do to make our communities a better place to live and work.

The redemption process for the Shea Homes Heroes Reward Program is simple:

  1. Eligible active or retired military, teachers, police officers and firefighters print out a certificate, available here: http://bit.ly/HeroReward
  2. Participants fill out the form, and present it to their Shea Homes Community Representative, along with proof of current or previous employment.
  3. The 1% credit is applied toward the base price of a new Shea home (program not valid at Trilogy or Encanterra communities).

If you or someone you know qualifies for the Heroes Reward Program, we invite you to come tour one of our Shea Homes communities around the Valley and see for yourself what it means to “live the difference.”

How this 13-year-old BackCountry resident is giving back.

And how you can too.

For many, the holidays are a time for outreach to those who are struggling. You can find endless ways to volunteer—check out the ideas below—but if you need additional inspiration, look no further than BackCountry resident Lily Larsen. Last month, this Mountain Ridge Middle School student wrapped up the second phase of her aid project to the children of Syria, sending 127 pairs of much-needed socks and 162 pairs of underwear. This followed the 335 stuffed animals Lily collected and sent last May.

Her inspiration sprang from a conversation with a Syrian family friend, who explained how the 2011 uprising changed everything in her once-peaceful homeland, creating more than one million child refugees, many of whose parents were imprisoned or killed. Lily thought stuffed animals might help those grieving children.

“I wanted to give them something to hang on to,” says Lily. “I thought about how it would feel if something like that happened to me.” A school project prompted her to take action, and the BackCountry – a Shea Homes community responded generously to her flyers by dropping off toys, and more recently, clothing. Fired up by her success, Lily plans to continue her outreach projects twice each year, shipping the goods to Boston’s NuDay Syria, an organization that forwards contributions to the struggling country each month.

For Lily, it was kids in crisis who inspired her to act. What might it be for you? Handypersons (or those willing to learn) might want to pick up a hammer for Habitat for Humanity. This nonprofit has built simple, affordable housing for families since 1976. [read more…]

Shea Homes Arizona family division is proud to offer an exclusive home purchase credit to active and retired military. This special offer is also extended to teachers, active or retired police officers, and active or retired firefighters.

The Shea Homes Heroes Reward Program provides a 1% base price credit toward the purchase of a new Shea Home to recognize and thank the efforts of our community’s military, teachers, police officers and firefighters.

The redemption process for the Shea Homes Heroes Reward Program is quite simple. Here’s how it works:

  • Eligible active or retired military, teachers, police officers and firefighters print out a certificate, available here.
  • Participants fill out the form, and present it to their Shea Homes community representative, along with proof of current or previous employment.
  • The 1% credit is applied toward the base price of a new Shea home.

Retired Marine Rich Bauchert recently participated in the Shea Homes Heroes Reward Program when he purchased a new home at the Shea Homes Marbella Vineyards community in Gilbert. Bauchert says the 1% credit helped tip the scales in his purchase decision.

“It was a fantastic process,” said Bauchert. “We found the house and closed in 18 days. The Shea folks here at the center and through the whole process were great.” Bauchert said a quick closing process meant he could move his wife, 18 and 14 year-old sons and Jack Russell terriers out of a crammed apartment and into their new home before the school year started. “We’re super picky. We love this house. It’s great. We just finished our pool. I can’t say enough about the Shea staff here at Marbella Vineyards.”
