Relaxing in the Post-Holiday Season

by Shea Homes Northern California on January 15, 2014

The most wonderful time of the year has come once again, and although the holiday season is filled with family, love and giving, it can also be a bit overwhelming. There were holiday parties to throw and attend, the kids’ dance recitals, family flying in and family flying out, and with all that excitement, sometimes we forget to take a minute to breathe.

Here are three simple steps you can take to de-stress at home in the post-holiday season:

1. Allow for some ‘me’ time

Kick off your shoes and relax with a good book or some bad TV. You deserve it. Take a warm bath and try out this simple sugar scrub recipe from Pinterest before you jump back in to your weekly routine.

2. Get back into healthy habits

Let’s face it, baking and eating all those cookies and pies probably did not leave much time for your regularly scheduled workouts. Holiday parties and delicious family treats can overwhelm our senses and our scales, so start the new year right – with a little exercise and some healthy food choices.

Try this delicious cran-apple feta salad we found on Pinterest.

3. Take it all in

Spend a few moments reliving those wonderful holiday laughs with your family. Post those great family photos online and get copies printed for grandma and grandpa, too. Your loved ones and the memories you made together this year are priceless, so be sure to cherish them.
