Awesomefest - April 13 and 14 at EastmarkPeer ahead in your calendar.

Do you see that? The luminous sheen over next Friday and Saturday? The glowing lights, the live music, the smell of roasted pecans mingling with the tantalizing smells of a dozen food trucks? It can only be one thing…

AWESOMEFEST! And this year, Eastmarks’ annual bash has too much awesome for just one night, so for the first time ever the festivities will overflow into TWO nights of fun! (April 13 is for residents only and April 14 is open to the public.)

Things kick off on the April 13 with AwesomeEve, a residents-only shindig for the young and young at heart alike. Kids will get the chance to dance and play with the Be Kind Crew, a local group of young leaders who promote kindness through personal expression, spoken word poetry, and urban dance. Together they’ll create a routine that the kids will perform on Saturday night, right in the heart of AwesomeFest! Meanwhile, as dusk paints the Superstitions in pale zinfandel light, adults will be settling around farmhouse tables for a family-style, chef-prepared dinner. Enjoy farm-fresh produce from Erich Shultz of Steadfast Farms, specialty local wines and craft beers, as well as live music and stimulating conversation as the stars come out to look on with envy.

Ideas for Celebrating Thanksgiving Arizona-Style

by Shea Homes Arizona on November 19, 2016

Happy Thanksgiving
Order Take-out

Not in the mood to shop, cook, and tackle the dishes? Give thanks for the many Thanksgiving take-out options. Go for the complete meal or order sides a la carte from local fave, Lucy’s Healthy Marketplace. Other local food purveyors offering Turkey Day takeout are AJ’s, Safeway, Sprouts, Miracle Mile, La Grande Orange and Chompie’s.

Get Some Exercise

With turkey trots taking place from Phoenix to Mesa, and Anthem to Litchfield, it’s easy to get your run (or walk) done. Take it easy and complete a 1 mile course, or if you’re planning on an extra helping of pie, go for a 5K or 10K race. Complete turkey trot listing available here.

See a Parade

You can always tune in to the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Or if you want to get off the couch and enjoy some fresh air, pop over to Fountain Hills for the big Thanksgiving Day Parade (also called Parade De Los Cerros, or Parade of the Hills), now in its 20th year.

Go to the Movies

What better way to relax after a big meal than to kick back and recline in a dark theater? Popcorn optional. This year, a much anticipated family film will be opening at Harkins Theaters on Thanksgiving Day. Details here!

Host a Friendsgiving

Gather your friends and invite them over for Thanksgiving dinner – potluck style! Feel free to bend the “rules” and serve cocktails and tapas in lieu of the traditional spread. And if you need tips or wonder what the heck a Friendsgiving is, check out this step by step guide from Food Network.

Help Feed Others

Support St. Vincent de Paul’s efforts to provide a turkey dinner with all the trimmings by donating to the organization’s annual Turkey Tuesday turkey drive on November 22. Turkeys, side dishes, and monetary donations can be dropped off at any Bashas or Food City location.
