A Grand Opening worth the (small) wait

by Shea Homes Colorado on July 7, 2015

Crazy, rainy spring weather pushed it back a week, but the two new, Shea SPACES model homes made their debut at a Grand Opening on June 27. Mother Nature is always the wild card in home construction, but thankfully, winter was fairly easygoing. Nonstop spring rains were the only hitch in a generally very smooth process.

At the Grand Opening, visitors were enthusiastic about the modern architecture, open plans, meticulous finish work, and inspiring décor by award-winning HRi Design, seen in these photos.

Homework, bill paying, working at home…there’s room for it all in this generously sized study.

Of course, photos can never fully do a home justice—the walkthrough is the true test of whether a home feels right for your family. So what are you waiting for? Grab some directions, and head over for a tour soon. Hours are Mondays from 1 p.m. – 6 p.m. and Tuesday-Sunday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Meet me at the barn, AKA the amazing Reunion Rec Center

by Shea Homes Colorado on March 6, 2015

Dubbed “Big Red,” Reunion’s rural-themed, award-winning, 21,000-square-foot rec center is more than a $5.28 million investment in the community. It’s an investment in a sense of community.

On any given day at the rec center, you’ll see countless children’s sports programs in progress: basketball, soccer, and flag football, just to name a few.

“We have a young, dynamic community with lots of kids in the two- to eight-year-old range,” says Operations Manager Melissa Murray. “The children’s programs are extremely popular.”

Special events are equally well-received, she explains. “Reunion is a very tight-knit community. Everyone loves coming out and spending time with their neighbors.” Melissa says the best-attended events are the Red White & Blue Fest for the Fourth of July; Kite and Flight, a celebration of everything that flies, from insects to kites to radio-controlled airplanes; and Movie Nights, when films in the park are projected on a giant inflatable screen, supplemented by food trucks and games.

Adults have fun ways to stay fit, too. The rec center offers Zumba, yoga, aerobics, boot camp, P90x, personal training, and more. Not to mention all the amenities, such as a full-court gym perfect for shooting hoops after a long day at work. Or the fitness center, which features 12 LifeFitness cardio machines, including ellipticals, treadmills, and bikes, and more than 40 pieces of free-weight and stationary lift equipment. In the summer, residents love to take advantage of the outdoor pool, with its 100-foot slide and interactive water features. Residents can even rent out the pool for parties, as well as meeting rooms for business or club meetings.

Positioned at the eastern end of Reunion Park, the recreation center includes a wall of windows that makes those trips on the treadmills breathtaking—in a good way. Aesthetics played a key role in the center’s construction. In 2004, the facility won the Recreation Management Innovative Architecture & Design Award, cited for its “clear reflection of the community’s philosophy. A very rural character is conveyed in a state-of-the-art facility.”

Friends In ParkSo yes, Big Red offers far more than meets the eye. Inside this bright red barn with metal water tower and cozy porches is an amazingly up-to-date facility. And the heart of a community.
