Stepping Stone

Homes are selling pretty quickly these days in metro Denver area according to the Denver Metro Association of Realtors®.  Shea Homes® Watercolor Collection at Stepping Stone™ offers main-floor living with four ranch plans that bring contemporary accents to classic architectural design. One of these plans is the Cimarron, which you’re invited to walk through via these photos.

Cimarron Overall

Like all four homes in the collection, the Cimarron is designed for modern life, maximizing space with open plans that flow from great room to kitchen to dining room. At approximately 2,374 square feet, the Cimarron offers two bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, and a main floor study.

Just say no to hibernating.

by Shea Homes Colorado on February 18, 2016

Ah. It’s the season of coziness. Saturday afternoons by the fire. Digging into a big bowl of chili. Blissfully nodding off, lulled by the soundtrack of your latest Netflix binge-watch.

We can do better than this, Coloradans.

Especially if you live in one of our Shea Homes Colorado CommunitiesBackCountry, Stepping Stone, or Reunion – winter need not be a four-walled purgatory until spring. Warm days are coming soon, so now’s the time to take steps (literally) to avoid a panic attack when shopping for your swimsuit.

At BackCountry, there are easy, daily ways to get moving. Strap on your snowshoes and explore the seven miles of trails and 467 acres of open space within BackCountry.  Or venture onto the trails and 8,200 acres of open space in the adjacent wilderness area.  No snowshoes? No problem. Residents can borrow a pair from the Sundial House whenever there is 12” or more of snow on the ground. That same terrain can be a blast for expert cross country skiers to explore too.

Why the best parties happen at Stepping Stone.

by Shea Homes Colorado on February 11, 2016

Some might say Stepping Stone’s  festive streak is simply a function of the fun, friendly people who tend to move there. (At Stepping Stone by Shea Homes, there’s a great mix of young couples, families, and empty nesters all eager to connect.) Or it could be the very active HOA that’s always cooking up special events where neighbors get to know each other. All true, but there’s another factor at work: Stepping Stone offers perfect places for entertaining, both at the Lantern House and in residents’ own homes.

The Lantern House is a beautiful gathering place where residents not only meet for community events, but host private parties. Summer pool bashes are a popular choice, thanks to the competition-sized pool and sundeck. But winter holiday parties are just as easy with a lounge, rooms of assorted sizes, a kitchen with bar seating, and a dining area that accommodates 75 people.

Lantern House Meeting Lantern House Party

That said, Stepping Stone homeowners have some amazing places to entertain right in their own homes. Visit any of the model homes and you may find yourself dreaming up the guest list for your housewarming party. [read more…]

It certainly wasn’t for lack of trying. Dan Anglin had been house hunting for a long time. But all those resale homes lacked the modern style he prefers. And after he and Susan met at work and eventually married, they were in total agreement.

“All the resale homes we saw needed a lot of updating,” explains Susan. “In this market, the good houses get taken or they need a ton of work. At Stepping Stone we could build a new house for the same price as a fixer-upper.”

The Anglins discovered the SPACES homes in Highlands Ranch and fell in love with their modern aesthetic and open floor plans. Unfortunately there weren’t many homes left, but the good news was that a new neighborhood with some of the same Shea SPACES home plans was coming to Parker. Both Dan and Susan work at an oil and gas company in Meridian Village, so the location would be perfect. (On a bad day, their commute is all of 15 minutes.)

They showed up the day Stepping Stone opened. Theirs were the first names on the interest list—even though there was no model to see and barely a road to the lots, which Susan “could kind of see in the distance,” she says. Despite that, “we knew when we saw the floor plan and a picture of it that this was the one we wanted. We just had to use our imaginations.”

The home Susan and Dan chose was Shea Plan 4005 in the Modern Prairie elevation, whose clean lines and sleek, white brick exterior spoke to their contemporary tastes. The Anglins entertain often, so they love the modern, open plan.
