Wanted: A neighborhood for the kids at Stepping Stone

by Shea Homes Colorado on April 25, 2016

Cain Family

A few years ago, Jessica and Brent realized their East Parker home wasn’t quite as kid-friendly as they’d envisioned. A huge house on a half-acre seemed like a smart choice for their three boys. But it was on a corner lot on a hill next to a busy street—dangerous for bike riding. The home was older, so all the original owners’ kids were high-school age, so no playmates for the little ones. The pool was always crowded, the big yard was a headache to maintain, and driving the kids across town to lacrosse games was a hassle. [read more…]

Just say no to hibernating.

by Shea Homes Colorado on February 18, 2016

Ah. It’s the season of coziness. Saturday afternoons by the fire. Digging into a big bowl of chili. Blissfully nodding off, lulled by the soundtrack of your latest Netflix binge-watch.

We can do better than this, Coloradans.

Especially if you live in one of our Shea Homes Colorado CommunitiesBackCountry, Stepping Stone, or Reunion – winter need not be a four-walled purgatory until spring. Warm days are coming soon, so now’s the time to take steps (literally) to avoid a panic attack when shopping for your swimsuit.

At BackCountry, there are easy, daily ways to get moving. Strap on your snowshoes and explore the seven miles of trails and 467 acres of open space within BackCountry.  Or venture onto the trails and 8,200 acres of open space in the adjacent wilderness area.  No snowshoes? No problem. Residents can borrow a pair from the Sundial House whenever there is 12” or more of snow on the ground. That same terrain can be a blast for expert cross country skiers to explore too.

Why the best parties happen at BackCountry.

by Shea Homes Colorado on January 12, 2016

Some might say BackCountry’s festive streak is simply a function of the fun, friendly people who tend to move there.  Or the very active HOA that’s always cooking up special events to help neighbors get to know each other. All true, but there’s another factor involved: BackCountry offers perfect places for entertaining, both at the Sundial House and in residents’ own homes.

The Sundial House is an award-winning gathering place where residents not only meet for community events, but can host private parties. Several venues provide superb backdrops for gatherings large and small. In more temperate months, cocktails around the courtyard fire pit, looking out over thousands of acres of wilderness, makes for a pretty memorable get-together. You could also host a Broncos watch party at Pikes Pub and Lounge or a lively, interactive dinner party in the demonstration kitchen and dining room. The community room is large enough for a wedding, but with intimate conversation areas perfect for smaller gatherings.

That said, BackCountry homeowners have some amazing places to entertain right in their own homes. Visit any of the model homes and you may find yourself dreaming up the guest list for your housewarming party. Every Shea home is designed for great entertaining, both indoors and out, since the great outdoors is so breathtaking in BackCountry.

Within the Shadow Walk Collection, the Somerset plan is made for entertaining. Guests can easily mingle in thoughtfully connected spaces, such as the formal dining room, morning room, great room, and this kitchen, with a rounded island and breakfast bar.

BackCountry, then and now.

Reunion, then and now.

April 20, 2015

Hard to believe, but it’s already been 13 years since Reunion was established.  Back in 202, Shea Homes’ master plan was inspired by the former agricultural area’s prime location – rural and peaceful, yet an easy drive into vibrant downtown Denver.  For the more than 1,500 families who live there today, Reunion has fulfilled […]

The Lantern House in the Winter at Stepping Stone

February 17, 2015

If you visited Stepping Stone, a Shea Homes Community, in the summer, you saw how much families loved the Lantern House. Pool dates and swim lessons at the competition-sized pool. Parties on the deck. Picnics in the shelters and cabanas. Games on the lawn. And stargazing around the firepit. But even in winter, there’s […]
