3 New Bathroom Trends for 2017

by Shea Homes Arizona on April 7, 2017

Wanting to spruce up your home and make it as welcoming as possible? Your bathroom, while often underappreciated, receives a lot of traffic and can make or break the overall feel of your home. Check out these 2017 bathroom trends.

Neutral Bath Colors

Neutral coloring
White, off-white, and grey walls are the most popular bathroom colors for 2017. The Shea model home pictured above fits right in, with dark grey cabinets and light grey walls that nicely complement the white countertop and linens.

Distinguised Vanity

Distinguished Vanity Space
Create a sleek, individualized look in your bathroom by dividing your wide vanity into two distinct spaces. You can do this by placing individual mirrors and light fixtures above each sink. Add an accessory between the two and you’ll give your bathroom a more distinguished look.

Tile Accents

Ceramic tile accents
Sometimes it’s difficult to find the perfect balance between getting every room to work together and not being able to tell when one room ends and other begins. There are very few features that say “bathroom” like ceramic tiles on the walls! As in the Shea model home pictured above, the tiled backsplash and shower accent matches the color scheme of the house while keeping a bathroom feel.

Grab a new doormat at Target or get creative and go for a little doorway DIY. Pick up an inexpensive bristly doormat, some gold spray paint, then add a smattering of triangle with white craft paint and a small paintbrush.

Gold Wreath

Add a dash of metallic to your entry with this simple gold wreath. Hit the craft store for a foam wreath form, gold thumbtacks and a ribbon. Yes, you’ll be pushing in over 1,000 thumbtacks, but pop in A Christmas Story and watch while you work.

Wrapped Gifts

Add instant holiday spirit to your front porch with this easy and inexpensive DIY project. Simply wrap a selection of different sized boxes and stack by the front door or on a rocking chair or bench.

To better prepare our customers for their design studio appointments, we have recently joined the popular, online platform called Houzz! So what is Houzz, you ask? Houzz is the leading platform for home remodeling and design, providing people with everything they need to improve their homes from start of finish. Essentially, we’d call it the realistic Pinterest for new homeowners. You CAN get the features you see in our photos! Here’s how:

On Houzz, users are able to create their own ideabook, which is a place for users to store and categorize their favorite photos by style, trend, color and room! You can flip through photos of all our communities and models, in addition to photos of other Houzz users’ (aka HOUZZERS) Shea Homes; read questions submitted by other HOUZZERS and responses answered by Shea Homes professionals; read thorough reviews and even write your own review about us! Plus much, much more!

Do we have your attention? If so, sign up for a Houzz account now! Here is a chart of the quick and easy steps!

houzz

To look at this graphic in more detail, click here: “How to HOUZZ

We are also so excited to announce a new feature that we will be launching on our Houzz profile in the very near future! Here is a simple outline of what you can expect:

The Idea:

Utilize our SheaHomesAZ HOUZZ account to aid buyers in selecting their personal interior design style based on 5 style categories predetermined internally.

The Program:

The main idea was to keep new buyers excited about their new home. So HOUZZ will be used as a tool for homeowners to look through options we offer based on what other homeowners selected. We have made it easy for them to discover their personal style because we categorize the homeowner photos for them.

Additionally, homeowners can see the name of the option as well. While review the photos if they see an option they love, they can write it down and bring that with them during their Design Studio Appt.

How will it work?:

We will upload images of completed homes, prior to key release, showcasing the home’s style. We would like to showcase cabinets, countertops, flooring, and grout. Therefore, the best images will be of the main hub of the home (i.e. kitchen/great room). The images will be placed in their corresponding design style, based on that buyers design studio selections.

Prospective/New Buyers:

Prospective/New buyer(s) will have the option to view the Ideabooks on HOUZZ to better determine their own personal style based on options that we offer. This can aid in keeping the buyer(s) excited and help set expectations for the Design Studio appointment.

Styles:

The ideabooks that we will offer are based on popular house styles, such as Contemporary, Eclectic, Modern, Traditional and Transitional. We will provide links to these ideabooks in the near future so that you can look through photos and get an idea of what designs you like best for your Shea Home!

To learn more about HOUZZ and/or to get a better understanding of what it is, check it out at www.HOUZZ.com

P.S. Please follow follow Shea Homes AZ on HOUZZ, and feel free to write a review about us, at www.Houzz.com/sheahomesaz!

 1)      Glamorous kitchens

From brass and chrome accents to creative lighting fixtures and dramatic counter tops and back splashes, today’s kitchens glamorous! Picture just the right amount of natural light, open room designs, and our next trend…

2)      Honey-tone woods

Walnut, oak, and cherry all have a warm tone that make your granite countertops, gleaming fixtures and lighting stand out. These tones create a warm and inviting feel that welcomes your family and your guests to sit and stay a while.

3)      Turquoise accents

Whether it’s in your upholstery, paint or wall décor, furniture, or just about anything else, you can’t go wrong with a fun turquoise accent! Combine with white for a stunning clean look or natural tones for a beachy or earthy feel.

4)      Hair-on Hide accents

Here’s a trend that’s making a comeback. Hair-on hide furniture and rugs make for a terrific standout piece in any room. Don’t feel like you need to stick with neutrals or make the whole room outdoors or animal themed either. Pair these with whites, bright accent colors, warm palettes—just about anything!

5)      Emphasis on styled outdoor living – modern, beautiful, comfortable

Lastly, today’s trendsetting homes show some class when it comes to outdoor living. Looks today combine the modern with the beauty of the great outdoors and sometimes even a rustic look. But above all, styled outdoor living s about comfort. Think big tables for outdoor dining and comfy padded chairs to sit in and talk with your guests for hours under the stars.
