Why Stepping Stone is so much fun. And who’s behind it all.

by Shea Homes Colorado on August 3, 2015

Being bored while living at Stepping Stone is simply not going to happen on Kimberly Aikens’ watch. Kimberly is Stepping Stone’s Community Manager/quasi-Lifestyle Director, and she’s busy helping to create the traditions that make a new community feel as though it’s been there forever.

Right now, residents can find Kimberly at the Lantern House three days a week. (As the community grows, so too will her job—into one that’s five days a week.) Kimberly helps new residents by answering questions, giving them community access cards, and planning special events, like the Easter Eggstravaganza, Dive-in Movies, and the Fall Pumpkin Patch. She welcomes everyone at Stepping Stone to stop by the Lantern House—which she describes as a community living room—and hang out, watch a sports game on TV, socialize at the pool, and share ideas on what activities they’d like to see in the community.

“I adore our buyers,” she says. “They tend to be very community-minded, so we already have a spirit of inclusiveness here.” One past event, the holiday potluck, came directly from homeowners who requested a way to get together during the winter, when everyone tends to be hunkered down inside—not out gardening, taking walks, or playing at the park, which naturally spark friendly conversations. The Dream Kitchens of Stepping Stone

by Shea Homes Colorado on December 17, 2014

This time of year, the kitchen becomes even more of a focal point. A well-designed kitchen makes the holidays even more festive, effortlessly drawing people together to chat while snapping green beans, oohing and aahing over the roasting turkey, or sharing wine and cheese before the big meal ahead. And when the kitchen is equally well-appointed, the chef’s job is immeasurably easier.

Behold the kitchens of Stepping Stone, designed for both conviviality and convenience. Check out our model kitchen photos and imagine where you could be hosing your next holiday!  Then, take a peek at the available SPACES Discovery Collection homes.

Ready, Set, Play at Winding Path Park!

by Shea Homes Colorado on December 15, 2014

There’s no better way to enjoy a beautiful day than with an invigorating walk on the Stepping Stone trails. May we suggest Winding Path Park as your destination? The park, completed in July, offers more than five acres of outdoor beauty and fun.

Reflecting the community’s design values of Exploration, Discovery, and Delight, the park uses actual stepping stones in both practical and artistic ways throughout. Winding Path Park features a shade structure with large stepping stones, expansive grassy play areas, gardens, and playgrounds surrounded by more natural areas. Pathways are made easily navigable at nighttime by LED solar-powered lights.

Parks are an essential ingredient at Stepping Stone, and Winding Path Park is just one link on the community’s necklace of beautiful, functional parks. Three more are already planned – Sunburst Park, Four Square Park, and Butterfly Park – so stay tuned for updates.  If being part of a master-planned community is important to you be sure to visit today to explore Stepping Stone and the Shea SPACES Discovery Collection.  For additional information, please call 720-851-1444 or visit

Everything tastes better outside. Bring your dinner to the picnic pavilion, no occasion required.

These over-sized stones were made to tromp on, just the way kids love to do at their favorite campsite.

Large, grassy areas offer prime space for soccer, football, and impromptu games of capture-the-flag.

Creative play structures let your kids’ imagination call the shots. Another playground is just steps away, next to the Lantern House.
